JOHN HANCOCKSolid Sterling Silver Limited edition collectors plate by The Franklin Mint. 1976Official Bicentennial Commemorative plate featuring John Hancock, the first signer of the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. The plate reads: "We mutually pledge...our lives, our fortunes...our sacred honor".Estate sale find. Plate has some discoloration on the edge where it is up against the glass. SEE PHOTOS The plate is made of Sterling Silver with 24Kt Gold electroplated highlights. It is numbered 3964 on the back of the plate. The plate measures 8" in diameter and comes in a Franklin Mint FRAME. This frame has a circle cutout on the back to display the words on the plate. The backing is held in by a wire system that is easily taken off and replaced. Frame measures 12" x 12" x 2"******Wooden Frame is in Good Shape. It has some wear along the top edge. See Photos. Black backing surrounding the plate is DETERIOATING. It is a flocked cardboard that has not stood up well to being stored. IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED or COVERED with CLOTH. ******(ALSO: in separate eBay listings are the other 3 Sterling plates in this series. (John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Caesar Rodney.
